My journey with Melin Brand, a company specializing in premium headwear for men and women, exemplifies this narrative. From its early startup days to its acquisition by Olukai, my role was pivotal in steering the brand through its various phases of growth and establishing it as a leader in its niche. This period was marked by innovative digital marketing strategies, creative direction, and the seamless integration of e-commerce solutions, all of which were instrumental in driving the brand’s success.

The foundation of our strategy was to enhance brand visibility and engagement across all digital platforms. This required a comprehensive approach, encompassing everything from website design to social media content, all tailored to resonate with our target audience. This involved owning the development of their website, multimedia production, and social media content, digital marketing efforts, and acting as a one-man multiple-department effort ensuring that every piece of content reflected the brand’s identity and values. Our aim was to tell the Melin story in a way that was innovative and engaging, making use of high-quality video and photographic content to bring our campaigns to life.

The e-commerce platform was another critical aspect of our strategy. I led the design and implementation of this platform, focusing on driving online sales growth while optimizing the user experience. This entailed a meticulous approach to website functionality, design aesthetics, and user journey mapping, ensuring that visitors not only found what they were looking for but also enjoyed the process. Very similar to the story at Safariland taking them off an overpriced solution and bringing them to a cost-effective platform. Collaboration was key to our success. I coordinated cross-functional teams, ensuring that digital marketing efforts were in harmony with the overall business objectives. This fostered a culture of building out the creative, marketing, sales, and IT departments you see today, creating a cohesive team working towards a common goal.Our online campaigns were diverse and targeted, encompassing SEO/SEM, email marketing, social media advertising, and digital partnerships.

Each campaign was carefully crafted to reach our target audiences and achieve our marketing KPIs, with a constant focus on refining and optimizing our strategies based on performance data. Managing relationships with external agencies, vendors, and creative professionals was an integral part of my role. These partnerships were essential in producing top-tier digital content and executing our marketing campaigns, contributing significantly to the brand’s narrative and reach. I also spearheaded the brand’s ambassador program, which involved the selection, management, and collaboration with influencers and brand ambassadors.
