Shane Ruiz’s career is a testament to his commitment and adaptability, weaving together elements of passion, innovation, and dedication. His journey, beginning with a childhood fascination for photography and video, laid the foundation for a path marked by both professional prowess and personal growth.

He has served as an infantryman in the United States Army under the command of 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry). Ruiz has been stationed on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, an extremely dangerous location and a harsh environment. As a rifle team leader and designated marksman, he has a list of military and wartime honors including the Purple Heart, in which he and 16 other soldiers were engaged by a 120-man enemy attack on his position.

These experiences were not just about survival but about developing skills that would later prove invaluable. His post-military career as a defense contractor, where he educated servicemen and women in tactical radio communications, drafted United States Department of Defense curriculum, and further demonstrated his adaptability and commitment to service.

Shane’s true calling, however, lay in marketing due to his past young adult years. His tenure at La Jolla Group as a digital media and marketing manager saw him steer major brands like Metal Mulisha, FMF and O’Neal, showcasing a unique blend of creativity and strategic thinking. His time at One Industries was a watershed moment, leading to the successful sale of the company and the birth of his own entrepreneurial venture, Media Axe. Here, Shane’s expertise attracted major clients like Red Bull, Oakley, Always Evolving Nissan Racing, CBS Sports, MTM Watch, Rockstar Mayhem Festival, and more while underscoring his status as a leader in the field.

His transformative role at Melin as a senior director of digital and creative, and subsequent tenure at Safariland Group, further cemented his reputation as a marketer par excellence.  Shane’s story, however, is not just about corporate achievements. His work on special projects like Red Bull Aces and the Red Bull X-Fighters in Japan demonstrates his innovative approach to media and ability to capture the essence of extreme sports. His role in producing the world’s largest motocross film and directing “Lionhearted Film,” a veteran documentary showcased at the Smithsonian and National Veteran Art Museum, highlight his storytelling prowess and commitment to honoring those who serve.

Beyond his professional accolades, Shane’s involvement in various charitable and diversity initiatives reflects his deep commitment to giving back. Whether it’s working with the Warrior Built Foundation, Keep a Breast Foundation, and contributing to the Folds of Honor, or supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Shane’s dedication to making a difference is evident.

 

Today, as the Head of Product Marketing for Local Government at Oracle, Shane’s role is a culmination of a journey filled with diverse experiences, from the battlefield to the boardroom. Shane has established himself as a pivotal figure in Oracle, particularly in his role as the Head of Product Marketing for Oracle Local Government. His responsibilities are notably diverse and innovative, covering two distinct, yet equally significant areas of the business.

On one side, Shane oversees Oracle Public Safety, an integrated software and hardware suite designed to support First Responders and their communities. This platform signifies a significant leap forward in ensuring that those on the front lines of emergency response are equipped with the most advanced and reliable tools.

The other facet of Shane’s domain is Oracle NetSuite for Government, a tailored Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for small to mid-size communities. This program demonstrates Oracle’s commitment to providing scalable, efficient management tools for local governments, thereby streamlining their operations and enhancing community services.

Shane’s role extends beyond traditional product marketing boundaries. He has become deeply involved as a stakeholder and principal lead at the Oracle Industries Innovation Lab in Deerfield, Illinois. Here, Shane actively participates in developing cutting-edge technologies and collaborates closely with software and development teams. His work has led to significant advancements, such as the development of Body Worn Cameras, Vehicle Camera Systems, Drone Deployments, and integration of Boston Dynamics Robotic systems. Additionally, he has played a key role in the enhancement of First Responder Vehicles and Technologies. Currently, Shane is focused on the development of an Oracle Tesla Cybertruck, slated for release in 2024. This project encapsulates Oracle’s drive towards innovative solutions in technology and innovation.

Apart from his technological endeavors, Shane also dedicates himself to broader organizational roles. He serves as a Board Member of MAVIN, Oracle’s military employee network, highlighting his commitment to supporting veterans within the company. Furthermore, as the main lead for Local Government Diversity and Inclusion, Shane champions initiatives that foster an inclusive and diverse workplace, reflecting Oracle’s commitment to these values. Shane’s role at Oracle Local Government is multifaceted, encompassing both visionary technological projects and important organizational responsibilities.
